Why New Years Resolutions don’t work

New Years Health Resolutions Worksheet

new-years-goal-sheet.pdf

For as long as I can remember I have made a New Years resolution to lose weight, then I would commit to exercising and eating right for about the first couple of weeks into the new year then something happens, for me it would usually be triggered by food, I would see something I loved to eat and then convince my self of why I should have it.

I would make excuses and reason with myself about why I should eat what ever it was that I wanted to eat. I would create all the reasons why I should have that extra helping or why I should eat that ice cream bar.  I would tell myself that since I was working out so hard I should have that extra helping of what ever it is I wanted to have. And that would be the end of my New years resolution.

Well the main reason why my past New years Resolution did not work was because, I did not create an action plan detailing How, Why and When.

This weeks Podcast features my new years resolution action plan in detail.

No Weight Watchers Meeting

Christmas was a blast! I am still sticking to my Weight Watchers Points. My meeting was canceled due to the holiday, so there was no weight watchers meeting this week to attend. I hope at next weeks meeting I would have lost more than 4/10 of a pound!

Body Mass Index Chart-(BMI)

What is your BMI?

As the new year approaches and you make a resolution to join a gym and begin exercising this could be one of the questions posed to you on your fitness evaluation. Understanding what BMI is, and what the calculations mean to you can be a big step in determining whether you need to make major changes to your diet plan.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a relationship between weight and height that is associated with body fat and health risk. Body mass Index or (BMI) is a well known measure utilized by doctors, dietitians and nurses to determine whether you are underweight, overweight or within a healthy weight range.

The higher your BMI, the greater your risk for diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and certain cancers.

Fats and Oils

Most people who are dieting or counting calories incorporate a diet excluding fats or try to use fat free products. So what is the purpose of fats and oils in the diet? Many diseases associated with obesity are a direct result from high fat diets.
